Re: The new owners.
Sullivan and Gold took control of the club from Icelandic firm CB Holdings in January 2010 and he concedes the club's finances would have put off most potential owners.

However, he is determined to ensure the club becomes a Premier League force in the short-term, with the long-term aim of becoming financially stable once more.

"As a business venture it made no sense at all," he added. "Not the deal we did.

"The club was £120m in debt with very few assets. It was a mess. I knew, when the Icelandics were signing the players they were for the money they were paying, it made no financial sense

"But David and I are not in it for the money. We don't want to go bust either. The aim is to make the club self-sufficient. But we want to put the best possible team on the pitch for the supporters of West Ham because we are supporters too.

"Because of the mess we inherited we have to service a £100m debt. There are commitments that have to be paid and we have to pay interest on the debt. But we also had to put the money in to put together a team that would get us promoted.

"So we are spending capital. Spending our life savings. There is no point kidding ourselves.

"Now, if the king of Saudi Arabia wants to buy West Ham we would happily step aside for the good of the club. But we wouldn't step aside for a mystery foreign buyer whose financial resources we have no knowledge of."

It seems they would sell to the right foreign owner then?

Really but they sold Birmingham to Yeung right?

Re: The new owners.
Sullivan said that he's against foreign ownership, foreign everything in fact and thinks there is too much of it.

That was last year or so I think, but they've also said it a couple of times previously over the years.

They've also slagged off foreign investment in football before, so I doubt they'll be interested in any Chinese money.

Men of principle you see, never go back on their word.

Isn't that a very high valuation of city as well?

Re: The new owners.
They may not sell all of it but have always said they wanted an investor to come on board, like they have just done at City. Seems more realistic to me than any of the previous stories. Already have the land around it etc etc usual selling points...

I don't think they'll sell. Maybe for silly, silly money, but maybe not even then.

Speculation after Chinese investor invests 10% of Man City for $400m that this isn't the last we may see of investment from China into Premier League Clubs.

Deal will be used "to fund China growth". Man City now co-owned by Abu Dhabi (Sheikh Mansour) & the Chinese

Dan Roan, who made that proramme on the BBC about the OS has been saying the following:

China's stake in ManCity unlikely to be last foray into British sport. Chinese invested in Atletico Madrid in Jan. Some suspect the one Chinese would really like is West Ham (Olympic Stadium, already own nearby land). Not for sale apparently, let's see.

Re: The new owners.
Sullivan has said they will pass it on to their kids. I am sure he has the best of intentions but once we move to the OS and fill it with a decent team as we already have plus a few more we will become a top six club, maybe even get in the champions league, although any European run will probably be short lived. Frustration will set in sensing that the Berks have taken us as far as they can go in that the only way forward would be Champions League every season and to have a go at the title along with winning silverware, having a real go at the Champions league. That will cost much and the stakes will be raised too high for the Berks.

We will be highly sort after and ripe for takeover. The Arabs among others prefer high profile investments and the OS provides that. Expect some silly offers to come in for the club and as the Berks have always said if a multi billionaire comes in they will sell at the right price for the good of the club to take it to the highest level.

Bottom line is I can see them unable to refuse a crazy offer which is just a matter of time coming soon.

Re: The new owners.
I'm delighted with everything about our club from top to bottom

Since I started supporting the club in 1963 I can never remember feeling so optimistic

Our current owners are easily the best we've ever had & are West Ham through & through

I don't want anything to change & would hate us to become the plaything of a middle east/far east consortium even if it did catupult us more swiftly into the big time

We'll get there with the current board ~ Only a bit more slowly

They've done a great job for us & continue to move us forward
